End-to-end Posting Process

Probably one of the more useful documents I’ve ever created. Understanding, to the quarter hour, how long each step of the process takes me was instrumental to project planning.

QUESTION FORMULATION [1 HOUR]

FILMING [7 HOURS]

• 1/2 hour commute
• 2 hour setup
• 1 hour Get Still
• 2 hour shooting
• 1 hour strike down
• Edit audio directly in LogicProX
• Export individual mics mixed
• 1/2 hour commute

RAW CUT [0.5 HOURS]

• Offload footage & backup 3x
• 1/2 hour → leave overnight
• Import media
• Camera label metadata
• Make proxies
• Make multicam sequence
• Delete extra audio + empty tracks
• Combine in new sequence
• Fix video
• Colour & position
• AutoPod
• Save duplicate as Raw Cut

ROUGH CUT [1.5 HOUR]

• Review & script inserts
• Drawing board
• Save in Cuts

FILM INSERTS [0.75 HOUR SCRIPT + 0.75 HOUR SET + 0.5 HOUR SHOOT + 1 HOUR EDIT = 3.5 HOURS]

• Script night before shoot
• Set shoot

FINE CUT [1 HOUR]

• Cut & edit Inserts
• Drop in via timestamp
• Add in Intro + Outro
• Inserts included
• Save in Cuts

FINAL CUT [1 HOUR]

• Skim full episode
• Tag timeline for hooks & juicy short-form
• Timestamp for audio export
• 00:00 - Intro (trim)
• 00:55 - Overview
• 01:48 - Pod
• 11:59 - Henry Insert
• 13:40 - Pod
• 23:38 - Drawing Board (trim)
• 27:15 - Pod
• 1:29:11 - Outro

SHORT-FORM STRING-OUTS [3.5 HOURS]

• Extend 3x cam angles across tracks
• Enables flexibility of editing angles
• Create new sequence → “Short-Form Clips”
• Keep horizontal format (use for clips)
• Drop in reference clips to copy paste short-form screen dividers
• Trio
• Vertical split
• Horizontal split
• Remove all deadspace
• Separate into short-form clips
• Copy & paste individual sequences
• Use Vertical format
• Save in Short-Form Clips
• Edit camera angles
